April Showers

April came in with showers. Actually, it's been wet the past few days here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Let's hope the rain doesn't last the entire month!

Back to knitting. Isn't it amazing how slow stockinette and ribbing go, and yet when you're working a really interesting pattern, the rows just seem to materialize? I've been working on the Phoenix scarf and have finally transitioned from about 10 inches of stockinette stitch to the main pattern and suddenly it's progressing twice as fast. I love that knitting often has no logic. There's something utterly magical about it. From the way that it brings together the most unlikely people to the way the stitches come together to create some of the niftiest patterns to the way there are seven bazillion different ways to cast on and bind off depending on the look or function you're going for. One thing is for sure; there's always something new to learn.

The Six Sox Knitalong socks for February/March are done. I finished them Saturday with just enough time to photograph them and post them to the group. Behold!

I was kind of hoping that I wouldn't like the next pattern in the knitalong, but *sigh* they're Harry Potter inspired and I'm a hopeless Harry Potter geek and MUST knit these. You can see the sock here and you can get the pattern by joining the group....something I highly recommend anyway. These knitters know their socks! Now I just need the right yarn for the new socks. I'm thinking of dyeing my own again, this time in a semi-solid (or Showcase Yarn) that resembles the bright greens of the cover of the 6th book: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
